Morning routine is the KEY! Have you noticed how difficult it is to dive in your to do list after you hit your alarm off? What is your first respond when your alarm clock start to ring? Do you jump right in from your bed or hit the SNOOZE button? As a freelancer, sleep is lifer! Me too am guilty in this area.
From the book "Miracle Morning" by Hal Elrod. He mentions that you can transform your life by changing your morning rituals. You cannot be the person you want to become if you cannot win your mornings. When you are able to win your morning, you have the power to control your life.

1. It's already 5:00 AM! Wakey! Wakey!
Morning people are perceived to be as high achiever. According to study, morning people has 13% lower depression rate. Some people wake up one hour earlier are more productive than late risers. Even night owls can be productive too. If you are a night owl, don't force yourself to sleep early as it will lead to burnouts. Your body knows what should be and when should be doing.
2. Make Your Bed
If there's one thing you need to overcome in your life, it is making your bed in the morning. It reflects on how you can handle small things in life. If you can make your bed right after you wake up, it will give you a sense of fulfillment. Completing it before you start your day will motivate you to complete the rest of your tasks in a day. When you can make small things, you can make bigger things too.
3. Replenish your body!
Our body needs to replenish after the 8 long hour of sleep. What's in your cup matters! I start the day with a glass of green juice in an empty stomach to nourish my body and still productive the whole day. I eat my breakfast right away because sometimes I am hungry when I first get up to bed. Hydrating your body will give you a long lasting energy.
4. Freshen up!
Of course! We need to look fresh when we start fulfilling our day. After I drink my coffee I take a shower. I indulge myself with my favorite shower gel and prepare my makeups. I have to look good as I welcome the day because I am motivated to do all my tasks when I am beautiful.
5. Give Yourself a Moment of Silence
As a young growing Christian, I want to be more intimate here. This is I spent at least 15 minutes a moment with God. I praise and worship him for the goodness he has given to me. Ask him a wisdom to discern how we can walk the day with him. Meditating the word of God will make you victorious throughout the day. Never doubt the power of prayer.
6. Affirm Yourself! Yes! You are.
This is very important when you start your day. How you see yourself will reflect on how it goes throughout the day. Studies shows that we become what we feed in our mind. So start your day with a positive affirmations. Here are few examples:
I excel in everything I do...
I am beautiful...
I am grateful for my body....
Everyday, I am getting better....
I am victorious today....
7. Visualize Your Day
This is similar to affirmation. The only difference is you have got to visualize yourself on how you make the day purposeful. From the book "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne, you can get wat you want by visualization. Taking a look at an image in your mind, what will happen to you 3 or 5 years from now. I made a vision board
8. Move Ya Body....
You can transform your day with physical activity. Exercising has a lot of benefits in our mind and body. If you can't afford going to gym, brisk walking is enough. Plus, you'll get some Vitamin E! Elrod also recommend that quick stretching will do.
Experts says being physically active will reduce the symptoms and signs of depression.
9. Feed your Brain..
My favorite hobby is reading. I spent 30 minutes a day reading self-help books. I believe in the idea, if you are not learning, you are not growing. Even CEO reads average 50 books a year. If you want to be smarter, read books.
10. Write it down, girl!
Procrastination is real. To kick off procrastination, I make sure that everything in my plate is organized. I have to brain dump first before I start anything. My notes are my blueprint to jump off my day. For me, I get distracted easily when things went unplanned. It lead me to frustration when something is off.
Final Thoughts:
Waking up in the morning is really hard but it will be easier when you think the reasons why you are waking up each day. You don't have to be harsh in your mornings. No need to practice them all at once. You can start one at a time until you figure out what works best for you. What matters is when you win your morning, you win the day!
